Description
The main aim of the course is to gain general knowledge about psychological foundations of human experience and behaviour which are relevant for theory, methodology and practice of social work. Students will obtain knowledge relevant for human developmental stages recognition, acquire sensitivity to respect individual differences and learn to recognize the influence of the society on individuals' development. Students will become familiar with contemporary knowledge in the field of developmental psychology and general psychology, while linking it with the values, principles and examples of practice in social work.

Course content:
Contemporary psychology: scientific and applied psychology. Biological foundations of behaviour. Sensation and perception. Learning and memory. Intelligence. Emotions and motivation. Developmental psychology. Biological and physical development. Perception, cognition and language development. Emotional and social development. Deviations from typical development. Personality psychology. Psychopathology and psychotherapy.
