Pension schemes are the foundation of country's social security. Therefore, this course contributes to the objectives of the study programe by several learning outcomes:
- Understanding of the structural, cultural and political conditions that affect the development and regulatory framework of pension systems;
- Adoption of theoretical knowledge about the functioning, the advantages and pitfalls of public and private pension schemes;
- Finding reform solutions to the problems of pension system's sustainability and pension adequacy;
Practical and Generic Skills:
After successfully completing the course, the students will be able to:
- Define the basic terms and use internationally accepted terminology for public and private pension schemes;
- Recognise and select the main factors that influence the development of pension schemes;
- Name and describe pension schemes with regard to the social objectives, normative regulation, organizational structure, personal coverage, sources and methods of financing, risks, costs of the system and the level of benefits;
- Compare the pension systems;
- Differentiate various factors that influence the pension amount;
- Identify the main problems in the functioning of certain pension schemes;
- Analyze and critically evaluate the potential effects of the regulatory reforms;
Matching Assessments to Learning Outcomes:
Students need to attend classes regularly, read preparatory materials and successfully pass the oral exam. Knowledge assessment is focused on checking the elements indicated in learning outcomes.
