Description
The aim of this LSP course during the second semester is to make students familiar with the judicial system in the Federal Republic of Germany and with other aspects of criminal law. Working on the themes during the second semester students get acquainted with the names of judicial institutions in Germany and with the specific terms related to criminal and criminal procedural law. The six topics in this semester include: judicial power and the system of courts in the Federal Republic of Germany, steps of the criminal procedure in the Republic of Croatia, an example of an indictment from the Austrian legal system, the basic criminal law regulations in Switzerland and the very current topic of criminal offences in internet.

Students are encouraged to compare judicial systems and criminal law regulations in Croatia and in German speaking countries. Besides working on single legal terms, collocations and multi-word expressions, students practice syntactical structures that are frequent in German language of law (e. g. conditional clauses). Students work in pairs or smaller groups and have a chance to analyse concrete cases in the light of court jurisdiction and possible legal means.
