Under the influence of the information technology, digitalization of content, Internet and recent developments in information society, electronic media law constitutes an important part of information law studies. From a wider perspective, electronic media law covers the legislation that regulates different kind of electronic media, legal regulation of technical foundations for broadcasting of electronic media, and todays roll of electronic media in information society. From a narrow perspective electronic media law primarily covers the legal regulation of electronic media content and services that are broadcasted and published. Accordingly, this course deals extensively with current legal regulation of electronic media in Republic of Croatia, EU, comparative law and case law. Main objective of this course is that students acquire thorough knowledge and deep understanding of the basic principles of modern legal regulation of contemporary electronic media, their services and technical foundations for broadcasting. Students will also get insight to various methods of regulation of electronic media and their services (US and EU legal systems comparison) and influence of new technologies on electronic media and their future development. |
