The main objective of this Course is to present an overview of the history and theory of victimology. Analysis of victimization patterns with special emphasis on types of victims and crimes. The interaction between victims of crime and the criminal justice system with respect to the role of the victim and the services offered to the victim. This Course will also deal with the central concepts, research methods commonly used, as well as, giving an orientation into current research within the field (e.g. International Crime Victim Surveys (ICVS)). This includes research on the victim-offender overlap, theories about the victimization of different groups and the consequences related to victimization. The Course will be taught as combination of lecturing and discussion of the course content in class, and it will be organized in interactive forum. |
