Description:

Basic problems of particular sectoral areas and setting public policy agenda in Croatia. Context of the formation of public policies and their actors. Typologies of public policies. Actors and goals of public policies. Instruments and goals of public policy. Deciding on public policies and the way they are legitimized. Implementation of public policies. Evaluation of public policies. Europeanization of public policies in Croatia. Example of policy analysis in classic governmental departments in Croatia. Example of analysis of economic policies in Croatia. Example of analysis of social policies in Croatia. Example of analysis of sectoral policies in Croatia.

Cognitive Skills:

After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:

1. Distinguish public policies in Croatia and compare them with public policies in other countries using standard typologies of public policy science

2. Identify key stakeholders in the implementation of public policies in Croatia and the EU

3. Recognise instruments of public policies which are used in different public policies

4. Select an appropriate method of evaluation for individual public policies

5. Explain the manner of using different forms of responsibility and accountability in public policies in Croatia

6. Compare types and activity of stakeholders in different phases of public policies

7. Identify key time determinants in the process of individual public policies in Croatia

8. Prepare an analysis of a public policy document identifying problems, aims, stakeholders, instruments, deciion-making manner and implementation, forms of evaluation and accountability

1. Indidivual assignment - a written petition and presentation. Level 1-4; points 0-3.
