COURSE OVERVIEW:
A. Theoretical level in the integrative approach to social work.
B. Levels of action in the context of the integrative approach in social work:
(1) Direct level of action i.e. integrative approach to the user ? case management, (2) indirect practice (level) of action in the context of the integrative approach to the user
C. Some elements and preconditions of quality implementation of different intervention models in social work
CONTENT DESCRIPTION:
1. Introduction - (Urbanc, Žganec - joint course, 8 hours)
Theoretical level of the integrative approach:
Contemporary aid theories; systematic approach; eco-systematic perspective; humanism, existentialism and spirituality, theories of social development and community development, radical and critical perspectives, feminist perspectives and sex/gender related delicate perspectives, anti-discrimination perspectives, social-constructional perspective, strengthening and representing, psycho-social perspective; concept "the individual in the environment".
2. Direct level of action in the context of the integrative approach to the user - case management, (Urbanc, 15 hours)
1.Concept of co-operative relationship between the user and the social worker; Development of the co-operative relationship; Obstacles to the co-operative relationship.
2.Method of the individual planning of aid - case management as a procedure of efficient case management in the sense of planning and monitoring the services that the user obtains by different departments, institutions and other sources of aid: individual aid plan and preconditions for its drafting; Implementation of the individual aid plan; Evaluation of the individual aid plan.
3.Role of different concepts of strengthening and drafting the individual aid plan.
4.The users' perspective, the perspective of expert practitioners and the researchers' perspective in the context of the individual aid planning method.
5.The role of language and the importance the documentation running method in the individual aid plan drafting.
3. Indirect practice (level) of action in the context of the integrative approach to the user (Žganec, 15 hours)
1.The impact of socio-political environment on the practice of social workers in different organisational conditions and possible impacts of social work on achieving social change
2.Basic mechanisms and components of designing objectives of social work in different areas: shaping social work policies, visions and missions, practical objectives, selecting the target population, expected and unexpected consequences, aspects of financing, impact evaluation
3.Assessment of the needs of social work clients on the level of organisations and communities
4.Impact analysis of different features of social work clients on the development of social workers' programmes: the impact of age, gender, race, culture, disability, ethnicity, family structure, marital status, religion, sexual orientation etc.
5.Elements of interventions programmes drafting in social work: drafting suggestions including objectives, measurable results, evaluation of programmes, budget and drafting of the final report, public relations
6.Elements of gathering resources necessary for the implementation of social work programmes (budgeting, fund raising)
4. Some elements and preconditions of quality intervention models in social work (Urbanc, Žganec - joint 7 hours)

1. Team work and co-operation as a precondition of the integrative approach
2. Ethics and values of the integrative approach
3. Life long learning as a precondition of competence and responsibility of the social worker in the context of the integrative approach
4. Supervision of helpers as a quality insurance method
