Knowledge and understanding

After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:

- understand basic economic concepts;

- recognise and critically evaluate economic background of individual branches of law;

- understand the role of state and market in economy and economic processes

- understand connection between economy and law.

 

Analysis

After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:

- demonstrate the connection between legal institutions and economy;

- analyse economic processes and different strategies of economic development;

- understand the role of the state and market in moder economy;

- recognise different forms of market structure.

 

Synthesis

After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:

- understand the connection between certain branches of law with economy;

- formulate the causes of economic successfulness;

- distinguish various forms of market structure;

- recognise leemtns of functioning of the economic system;

- understand current economic situation in Croatia;

- compare success of economic institutions in Croatia with those in other EU member states;

- evaluate the role of economy in modern life.

 

 

Practical and Generic Skills:

After successfully mastering the course, students will be able to:

- publicly present learning outcomes;

- express themselves in a clear, adequately structured text explaining their standpoints;

- develop communication skills;

- participate in team work.

Matching Assessments to Learning Outcomes:

Classes in Political economy are conducted as a continuous and proactive learning process in which the emphasis is placed on interaction.

- In that manner a constant two-way communicatiuon is ensured, which stimulated students' engagement and permanent acquisition of learning outcomes.

- Apart from regular consultations with Chair members, student assistants are also available to students in all classes and seminars

- Modern audio-visual contents are used in class.

- Several times per semester guest lecturers are invited (renowned representatuves of academic, business, trade union community, or representatives of governmental and other institutions) in order to transfer current and practical knowledge to students and motivate their critical evaluation of events and active mastering- of learning materials.

- Depending on time availability, visits to relevant institutions will be organised.

 

Examination

1. In accordance with the Bologna process application, stuidents' work will be monitored and evaluated throughout semester

2. Compulsory written and optional oral examination

3. Preparation of a seminar paper under the mentor's professional guidance

 

Written examination

Written examination consists of 5 questions of an essay type.

Final grade is the result of written and oral part of the examination (80%) and individual work of the student through presentations, writing of seminar paper and mastering additional literature (20%).
